Scribed into the earth, an ellipse circles the crash site of Flight 93. At the top of this ellipse an "infinite" path gradually leads you down "into" the Pennsylvania landscape. At one point along this walk your eye-level is one with the sacred ground. As you progress, the outer wall's inclination increases with each advancing step. Once under the horizon your view focuses on the sky above. Here the heroes' names are stencil-cut into the sloping wall's upper edge and backlit by the heavens. Evoking the sorrows of Icarus, a feather-like texture lines this wall. Opposite, a wall of local stone provides a "grounded" place to rest and contemplate this tragic flight.
