Confronted with several easements, the property was under-valued... but confused. By reinforcing the site’s “regulating lines” with layers of slat-fencing and a family “boardwalk”, a clear “dominant void” defines the project. To acccomodate new bed and bathrooms a small vertical addition replaces the bungalow’s kitchen. Cloaking this glass box in a screen of matching slat not only provides the necessary solar protection but camoflauges the tower’s scale to maintain the primary reading inherent to the 1920s bungalow .
